Minimal techno and leftfield electronics from an all-star cast

While she became famous as part of the M-nus family, Magda has proven herself to be a thoroughly independent artist with a singular vision that carries her into continually interesting corners of the electronic music landscape. While her sound still retains a preference towards minimalism, her palette of influence is broad and draws on all manner of styles from 80s electro funk to industrial and minimal wave, all delivered with an incisive modern punch that makes her a vital artist to this day.
One such project that demonstrates Magda’s commitment to new pathways in sound is Blotter Trax, a collaboration with secretive Chicago producer T.B. Arthur that fuses classic electro with non-standard rhythms, acid undertones and an overall psychedelic delivery that is at its best when delivered live, over a loud soundsystem. It’s lucky then for attendees of FINEST ARTICLES that they get to witness both a Blotter Trax live performance and Magda’s DJ set. Magda and TB Arthur will also be joined by Patrick Russell, whose background in Detroit chime with his co-stars’ own Midwest roots. Committed to the forward momentum of true techno, but with a keen sense of groove to complement it, there’s a reason Russell is so highly regarded as a DJ.
On the Contact floor, Yukimasa’s Force night will be at the controls with South Korea based artist Romi and DJ Yazi appearing as guests.
