The French techno legend playing all night long

In the long and winding story of techno, it’s impossible to ignore the presence of Laurent Garnier. Following the first waves transmitting from the Detroit pioneers, Garnier was among the earliest adopters to champion the music in Europe, equally adding his own stylistic flair to the music in the process. As a producer, he’s continually pressed forward with an expressive and propulsive strain of machine music, delivering seminal hits like “Crispy Bacon” and “The Man With The Red Face” as well as underground classics such as “Acid Eiffel” (as Choice).
He’s also continually helped define the ever-broadening techno landscape as a DJ, whether recording one of the seminal X-Mix compilations in the early 90s or compiling the vital Kings Of Techno collection with Carl Craig in 2006. The latter compilation nods to the depth and breadth of Garnier’s musical passion, reaching back through many decades and styles to kosmische, new wave, industrial and new beat. But he’s just as committed to the here and now, which ensures an expansive, educational and emotionally-charged trip when he takes control of the Studio X Floor for a full six hours.
