Immersive, enigmatic techno from a modern master

Having recently celebrated its second birthday, Modest arrives at Contact with an impressive run of events behind it already, calling on one of the most intriguing entities in the modern techno scene, the masked producer SNTS.
We know little about the artist other than they identify as male and hail from Germany. It’s perhaps not surprising SNTS controls most of his output through his own self-titled and Sacred Court labels, but other key affiliations have been made that help contextualise the dark, weighty sound he propagates. From Horizontal Ground to Edit Select and Horo, the same shroud of nocturnal rhythms abides to create one of the most consistent, engrossing back catalogues of any recent techno artist. As such, SNTS is the perfect guests to take the Studio X Floor on an evocative, inspiring journey as Modest comes to Contact for the first time on the weekend. Among the artists appearing in support will of course be Modest founder Sakuma, who has more than proven himself as a masterful selector through his support slots for artists as respected as DJ Nobu, Marco Shuttle and Rrose.
