Derrick May presents MOVEMENT CLUB EDITION

Derrick May presents MOVEMENT CLUB EDITION

“The Most Peaceful Riot” MOVEMENT launched in Japan for the First Time.

In 2003, Derrick May stood up. Detroit Electronic Music Festival started in 2000, and it was a great success. However, in 2001, Carl Craig who was artistic director got fired suddenly right before the festival. In 2003, Derrick May decided to start Movement Festival in order to take festival back to artists’ hands, even though he did not have any experience of organizing large festival. All it takes to start movement is one crazy person who strongly believes in what he / she is doing. I went to experience the first Movement Festival in 2003. I can never forget the moment when Derrick May came on the stage, shouting “We will continue this festival year after year after year…” with dead voice. Voice came from deep inside his soul echoed in Hart Plaza, Detroit.

15 years has passed. Derrick May is no longer involved in Movement Festival in Detroit. But, he has kept telling me that he wants to do Movement party in Tokyo. He has very special emotion toward Tokyo. Do you remember that he came to Tokyo right after the earthquake in 2011? It was a time everyone was scared to come to Japan. He came to cheer us up. He also has special feeling to Contact Tokyo, the club he gave a name.

Movement Club Edition will be very special event. This will be unforgettable. In Studio, the innovator of techno, Derrick May will be headlining the show. He will bring subliminal joy to the dance floor with emotional techno music. Mr. G will perform live set. He is very popular artist among Transmat fans. His last performance in Tokyo was very well received by Tokyo clubbers. Hiroshi Watanabe, the first Japanese artist on Transmat, the label owned by Derrick May. His “Threshold of Eternity” is considered as “the anthem that replaces ‘Strings of Life’ in the history of Detroit Techno” by journalist in UK. Don’t miss his performance.

In Contact, Drummer B will make his debut to Tokyo. He is the artist just released “The Diamond Project EP1” from Transmat. Also, local talents such as Juzu aka Moochy, Sakiko Osawa, Naoki Shirakawa will perform.

Time, Space, Transmat! This party will give you true transmit experience takes you beyond time and space.
“The Most Peaceful Riot” never ends.
