A night of intuitive listening

With the revival of rotary mixers and turntables, Studio X will have gears lined up for listening comparisons.
Following the Bozak mixers, Urei1620 became a standard model for House DJs. In recent years, E&S DJR400 has been in high demand especially in Europe, and isonoe ISO420, a model that Floating Points has taken part in the development. You’ll have the chance to listen and compare the 3 mixers. The infamous analogue player Thorens TD521, which was the go to for Larry Levan at Paradise Garage, David Mancuso at Loft, Tony Humphries at Zanzibar, will be set up along with Technics SL-1200 series grand class SL-1200G will both be hooked up to Urei1620. DJ Nori and PI-GE will be playing some records for comparison, and PHONON representative and mastering engineer Kumano will thoroughly explain the difference in sounds from his professional perspective.
Following the panel, DJ Nori and PI-GE are scheduled to play their sets on these equipments. In the Contact floor, Wada Yosuke from Chiba, Tommy from the record shop Technique, Gyao and Jitsumitsu from Disko Klubb, and music selector Mayu Kakihata will be on decks.
