Toasting a decade of immersive techno exploration

From its roots in Taiwan, Smoke Machine has grown to become a truly international force exploring the outer limits of techno music. Celebrating 10 years since they first launched in Taipei, the Smoke Machine team are throwing celebratory events across Asia and the US, including an unmissable date at Contact.
The Studio X floor will be falling under the spell of special guests Joel Mull and Wata Igarashi. Mull has been a singular protagonist in the techno world since starting out in the mid 90s, initially appearing on seminal labels like Primevil and H. Productions and going on to appear frequently on such high profile institutions as Drumcode and Cocoon. Igarashi’s own path has been more recent but no less prolific – over the past decade he’s notched up countless releases on The Bunker New York, Bitta and Midgar. Both DJs will be joined by core resident Diskonnected for a head-twisting journey into the heart of the Smoke Machine sound.
To add to the festive atmosphere, the Contact floor will be reverberating to the 10th anniversary celebrations of another Taipei institution, Bass Kitchen. Equally committed to fresh and meaningful sounds within the 4/4 sphere, you can expect to hear a more house-oriented slant when resident DJ Yoshi Nori is joined by Manuel Fischer (Lobster Theremin) and Gonno (Ostgut-Ton, Endless Flight).
