Powerful modernist techno from two of Copenhagen’s finest

The attention foisted on Copenhagen’s techno scene in recent years can be credited to a few key operators who have brought their own unique twist to the decades-old
culture. Foremost amongst them is surely Anastasia Kristensen, who in the past few years has become an omnipresent figure in the global techno scene thanks to her
imposing skills as a DJ. With a style that favours faster tempos and experimental textures, Kristensen’s sets are unmistakable and incredibly infectious. For all the intensity, there’s also nuance and groove meshed into the tough rhythms and steely atmospheres, making the overall impact all the more compelling.

Mama Snake is another of the key protagonists in Copenhagen’s techno story. As one third of the Apeiron Crew she leapt to notoriety for her razor sharp cuts between slamming 4/4, UK-oriented bass music and the nastier end of electro. The Crew have splintered now, and Snake keeps pressing forwards, incorporating trance and pop elements into her bruising sound. She’s the kind of DJ who merges everything so fluidly you don’t notice the gaps, unless she wants you to.
Between Snake and Kristensen, it’s the perfect double-header to lay waste to the Studio X Floor with a dazzlingly fresh approach that still hits like a proper techno night should.
