A techno titan brings his inimitable sound to Contact

Carl Craig will be appearing at Contact for the very first time to toast the launch of his compilation,「Detroit Love Vol. 2」

Synonymous with the second wave of artists to emerge from the Motor City techno scene, Craig is a landmark artist who capitalized on the emotional potential in the music to create a distinctive sound as much about orchestration and atmosphere as rhythm. Aliases such as 69, BFC, Paperclip People and Psyche all extended his illustrious take on machine soul, as did albums like the seminal 「Landcruising」and 「More Songs About Food And Revolutionary Art」Beyond the synthesized, sampled and sequenced aspects of his work, Craig also expanded his vision with jazz-focused projects like Innerzone Orchestra and The Detroit Experiment.

Craig’s latest venture is the second volume of the Detroit Love compilation series, which finds him digging into much loved and overlooked Motor City artists alike, and blending them like only he can. From Kevin Saunderson and DJ Minx to The Dirtbombs, the collection is a perfect tribute to the city he calls home, and you can expect these sounds and more besides when he comes to Contact.
