サウンドシステムで映画上映を行うDUB CINEMAの第２弾が開催
サウンドシステムを持ち込んで、ダブやステッパーズ、レゲエ等、サウンドシステム・カルチャームービーを上映するDUB CINEMA 第2弾が、ContactのStudio Xでの開催が決定。今回も最重要サウンドシステム・イベントTOKYO DUB ATTACKとeastaudio sound systemのバックアップの元、サウンドシステムの魅力と最高品質の重低音で案内する。
今回上映されるのは、ドキュメンタリー映画「IRATION STEPPAS -INA VANGUARD STYLE-」(和訳付き)だ。IRATION STEPPASはリーズを拠点にExodusとのSub DubやDancehall Science、さらには世界最大のベースミュージック・フェスと評価されるOutlook Festivalのレジデンツを務める、Mark IrationとDennis Rooticalが中心となり立ち上げられたイギリスのサウンドシステムである。Jah Shakaに牽引される英国のニュー・ルーツの第二世代で、UK最高のサウンドシステムといわれており、RuskoやCaspa、Skream、MALAとCOKIによるDigital Mystikzといったダブステップシーンの雄からもリスペクトを受ける存在である。
11月9日は日本のほかにブリストル、メキシコシティ、サンパウロ、ボゴタなど世界各都市同日プレミア上映となり、この日から一ヶ月間ロンドン、パリ、コペンハーゲン、ニューヨークなどの先行上映イベントと連携して開催される。
今回のサウンドシステムにはeastaudioがDUB CINEMAの為に製作したオリジナルサウンドシステムEASS HiFiを導入。バスリフレックスのEASS HiFiの素直で柔らかい低音とヴィンテージVoid Static3、これらの木目の美しいサウンドシステムは巨大なホームオーディオのようなサウンドを奏でる。
映画の前後にはこのサウンドシステムの優位性を十分に堪能する、ダブやレゲエのエキスパートとも呼べるラインナップによるDJタイムも準備されている。今年で26年を迎えるZettai-Muの主催で日本におけるダブシーンの重鎮Kuranaka1945や、伝説的ダブバンドDRY&HEAVYのボーカルでソロ名義でも活躍するLikkle MaiのDJセット、レゲエやダブの遺伝子で鳴らされる特異なダンス・ミュージックTorei、そしてホストには東京発のクオリティ・モダン・レゲエ・サウンドを掲示し国内外での活躍も著しいBim One Productionのプレイも予定されている。
The 2nd edition of DUB CINEMA, a film screening with a sound system
DUB CINEMA vol.2, bringing in their own sound system, hosts a screening of a sound system culture movie about Dub/Steppers/Reggae/etc. in Studio X of Contact. Backed up by the prominent sound system event TOKYO DUB ATTACK and eastaudio sound system, we guide you through the fascinating world of sound systems and the highest quality low bass.
For this edition, we’ll be screening the documentary「IRATION STEPPAS -INA VANGUARD STYLE-」(Japanese subtitles). IRATION STEPPAS, based in Leeds, is a UK sound system founded by Mark Iration and Dennis Rootical, who host SUBDUB with Exodus, Dancehall Science, and are residents of the world’s biggest bass music festival Outlook Festival. The 2nd generation of British New Roots, led by Jah Shaka, is considered the best sound system in the UK, and is highly respected in the Dubstep scene and the likes of Rusko, Caspa, Skream, Digital Mystikz (MALA and COKI).
On 11/9, premiere screening will also be held in Bristol, Mexico City, São Paulo, Bogotá and other cities around the world, and from this day there will be screening events in London, Paris, Copenhagen, and New York for the span of 1 month.
The sound system for this occasion will be EASS HiFi, an original sound system made by eastaudio specifically for DUB CINEMA. A massive beautiful home audio sound experience brought to you by the pure and soft low ends of EASS HiFi with the vintage Void Static3.
A lineup of Dub/Reggae experts will be DJing with the superior sound system before and after the screening. Kuranaka 1945, organizer of Zettai-Mu (marking its 26th year this year) and one of the biggest figures in the Japanese Dub scene, DJ set by Likkle Mai, the vocalist of the legendary Dub band DRY&HEAVY, Reggae/Dub influenced Dance music by Torei, and the host Bim One Production, who has spread quality modern reggae sounds from Tokyo to the nation as well as overseas, are scheduled to play.
