To the crossroad of culture that emerges on the other side of bass and echo

Contact’s monthly resident series Trilogies, spanning across 3 consecutive weeks, features Mars89 for the month of February 2022.  The 1st episode will be a tribute special to the record shop DISC SHOP ZERO in collaboration with 〈BS0〉, a crew specializing in Bristol music.
Nearly 2 years ago, the sudden death of the owner Naoki Iijima abruptly ended the history of the shop DISC SHOP ZERO.  The record shop served as hub for the local scene, a link between music and music, locals to locals, and people to people.  It was a record shop that was respected not only in Japan but also from all over the world, and introduced the sounds of Bristol in depth.  In his later years, he became especially drawn to Bass Music, hosting〈BS0〉as one of the masterminds behind the party that specialized in the field.  It is a party that focuses on sound systems with the network and ability to connect local DJs in Tokyo and various parts of Japan, while preserving the concept of the shop “on-site”.  Mars89 has been a resident of BS0xtra, the weekday version of this party.
Studio X, titled “Power of Dub”, features a live set by the dub band Undefined, known for releasing on〈ZamZam〉, and Dub Kazman from Osaka Dub Meeting who releases from his own label〈Rough Signal〉.  Mars89, Lil Mofo, Ena, playing an Old School Drum & Bass set for this occasion, and ykah,〈BS0xtra〉featured DJ will be joining the lineup.  Cutting edge Dub/Bass Music with intense low-ends that echoes throughout the floor.
Contact, title “Dance in Dub”, incorporates various styles of dance music culture including House and Techno with variations of dub that still live up to the values of〈DSZ〉.
Foyer, titled “Roots & Culture”, will be souped up with the talked-about miniature sound system by Homebeat Soundsystem along with Likkle Mai, and the usual suspects of〈BS0〉.  And, a revival pop-up shop, DISC SHOP ZERO, opens for this one night only affair in Shibuya.  Limited number of reprint T-Shirts (first come, first served) and various other items may be lined up.
The flyer features artwork by Joshua, a designer for the iconic Bristol underground label〈Bandulu〉.  There will also be a limited number of BS0 freebies.
On this night, the strong and rich culture which has emerged from the connection between music and people through DISC SHOP ZERO will be shared.  The people will carry on the concept of the shop that was owned by the late Naoki Iijima, passing it down to next generations.
Finally, let us carry on the words of our predecessor, Taku Mashiba, and make it a highlight of this day.
